- Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
- So … let’s rock!
• Something Visual •
First up, “It’s a New Day…Are You Ready?” — an upbeat message encouraging us to appreciate our new days, and some gratitude ear candy to go along with it from YouTube user AwakenYou, Alex Karis (@AlexKaris on Twitter and here on Facebook.) Alex is also the founder of The Hurricane of Gratitude group on Facebook.
•
Jo Englesson, member of my “League of Gratitude,” founder of TOFA (“Token OF Appreciation”) — and Twitter user @JoEnglesson — gives us “Giving Year Day 81 – Bettie,” where she celebrates the birthday and expresses thanks to her mentor and spiritual guide, Bettie Spruill.
• (The Rest of) the “League of Gratitude” •
Brenda Arnall at It’s a New Day gives us “Some Blessings Take Time,” where she celebrates the completion of a long-term around-the-house project. Brenda also shares the latest installment of her 52 Blessings gratitude journal craft project.
•
Maya, of The Gratitude Journal, gives us a twofer: “This Week I Am Thankful for Everything… Almost,” in which she finds something to be grateful for in just about everything, even if it has to be when its over … and “I Am Thankful for Being Kissed by a Cloud!” — in which she celebrates the end of a mad-dash week, only to be ambushed with a very natural surprise.
• This is The New Stuff •
From the New York Times blog Well, Dana Jennings gives us “After Cancer, Gratitude for Simple Pleasures,” a message from a man who understands “when you’re grateful, the world turns from funereal gray to incandescent Technicolor.”
•
At Shaping Youth, Amy Jussel gives us “Blame Drew’s Cancer For My Attitude Of Gratitude,” how media geek Drew Olanoff took a Montana-sized lemon and turned it into a hero-sized lemonade. Visit Blame Drew’s Cancer! here and Drew’s blog here.
•
Joan Indiana Rigdon at Forbes.com gives us “Lessons On Teaching Children Gratitude,” sharing some unexpected wisdom on teaching gratitude through understanding the power (and limitations) of money.
•
Looking at a similar problem, Jessica Rosenberg at It’s My Life, gives us “How do you teach gratitude to the 4 year-old set?” — sharing some reflections and a breakthrough moment on getting through the … well, whining.
•
Adam at Life, by Adam Kayce gives us “How To Escape The Gratitude Trap,” some straight talk for those of us that really don’t care for the idea of gratitude one little bit.
• Oldy but Goody •
Valerie Saurer (Facebook user GratefulOne) has moved her The Attitude of Gratitude Project to a Facebook page. Give it a visit, and write something on the gratitude wall, and “help make the world a better place by focusing on all that is right in our world.”
(Keep ‘em on their toes, Valerie.)
•
Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
