Gratitude Watch – 2009-06-30

by Daniel Brenton on June 30, 2009

    Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
    So … let’s rock!

•  Something Visual  •

YouTube user outrainpro Some gratitude eye candy and good thoughts with “Honor Life with Gratitude.”

Jo Englesson, member of my “League of Gratitude,” founder of TOFA (“Token OF Appreciation”) — and Twitter user @JoEnglesson — gives us “Giving Year Day 53 – Being in Service Day 6.” This, from 8/17/2008, a tribute to the untiring (and heartbreaking) efforts of her uncle Jan Eliasson for his diplomatic efforts to restore peace in Darfur, Sudan.

•  (The Rest of) the “League of Gratitude”  •

As mentioned above, I have a category of folks I call The “League of Gratitude,” people that have been frequent contributors to Gratitude Watch.

Maya, of The Gratitude Journal, gives us a twofer today, “I Am Thankful for Overalls,” an appreciation of her favorite clothes, and “I Am Thankful for the Revival of Hair” — some thoughts on Broadway, the appreciation of the younger set, and on being back in style.

•  This is The New Stuff  •

From June 17, at The New York Times website, Rob Walker gives us “Hyatt’s Random Acts of Generosity,” some reflections on a corporation’s efforts to inspire gratitude in its customers … and the possibility of the effort backfiring.

Thanks to Dan Dunlop’s Brand Expeditions for the tip.

At Waldorf to your Astoria, Bill Konigsberg gives us “Gratitude,” a confession of being something of “a spoiled brat” when looking at the riches of a life that he sometimes takes for granted. (Brave, Bill. Brave.)

(And, yes, I relate.)

Alyson at Clingsong’s Ink Marks gives us “Philosophy #5: The Creation Of Happiness,” a personal story that leads to the thoughtful examination of the relationship between happiness and gratitude.

Robyn Smith at Inner Freedom Yoga – Anusara Yoga and Somatics gives us “Wow, it’s already Summer and the last day of June!” — a reminder to recognize and celebrate our lives.

Bhenry at Sunny Gift Baskets offers “Show Your Gratitude,” some commentary on the loss of our culture’s past traditions of expressing gratitude.

The Golden Scribe gives us “Thanksgiving Traditions Nine Ideas for Families,” some great suggestions for helping keep gratitude in the family.

Now that’s gratitude for you: from Business Wire
“Personal Care Company Arbonne® Donates More Than $640,000 in Product to Military Serving Overseas.” Three guesses who the recipient was.

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
