Gratitude Watch – 2009-06-03

by Daniel Brenton on June 3, 2009

    Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
An even twelve items today. So … let’s rock!

•  Something Visual  •

Scott Armstrong of Boulder Coaching Academy (Twitter user @BoulderCoaching), gives us his take on the value of “Gratitude.”

Member of my frequent gratitude contributors, the “League of Gratitude,” Jo Englesson, founder of TOFA (“Token OF Appreciation”) — and Twitter user @JoEnglesson gives us “Giving Year Day 27 – Peter.” Having lost her camera on her way back from her trip from Africa, she thanks her friend there for sending her three CDs full of priceless memories from the the trip, and includes a rich sampling of those photos.

•  (The Rest of) the “League of Gratitude”  •

Newest member of my “League of Gratitude,” Maya, of The Gratitude Journal, gives us “I Am Thankful for the Music of My Symphony,” a gratitude lesson about marching to a different drummer, and about having license to wear big floppy hats, not be considered eccentric in doing it, and having damned fine reason for wearing them anyway.

•  This is The New Stuff  •

Ashley Mittman (Twitter user @Ashleymittman) at The Brazen Careerist offers “The Importance of Showing Gratitude,” some observations on how to push the needle of your gratitude meter at work a little higher.

Rosiebrown1 at Awaken Blog gives us “Turn Irritations into Gratitude,” a personal story of gratitude by comparison (… I mean, aren’t you grateful you aren’t a woman who’s known the fear of being flogged because you accidentally wound up in the presence of more than one man?)

(Hopefully, you aren’t such a woman. My prayers to you if you are.)

Rob Cooper at Former Fat Guy (Twitter user @fatlosstips gives us “Gratitude – Setting Things Free,” in which he expresses gratitude for even having been fat. The post features a six minute video of Louise Hay speaking about the power of our thoughts and words.

A quick and welcome note: “Eva’s Mom” at Truncus Arteriosus gives us “Gratitude: U,” a quick note about health insurance gone incredibly right.

Padremambo at The Divine Latitude (Twitter user @Padremambo), gives us “Gratitude,” about how gratitude can help up cope with living close to all the margins in our lives.

Mike H. at Realistic Recovery gives us twenty “Quotes: Gratitude.” I must confess that the Melody Beattie and the Meister Eckhart quotes get a lot of milage (hey, if I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen these two quotes I’d be richer than Steve Pavlina), but beyond that there are some gems there.

Morgan O’Donnell at Red Raven Circling gives us “An Evening in the ER: Lessons in Gratitude,” wherein a panicked trip to a hospital gives the author pause to be thankful for the right and whole things in her and her family’s lives.

Maya (a different Maya …!) at Everything Happens for a Reason gives us “On Check-Ups and Gratitude,” a different kind of doctor’s visit, and another eye-opener (my second today), this one into the world of raising a Down’s syndrome child.

Jeasy at Abundance and Prosperity (Twitter user @JeasySehgal) gives us “Power of Love and Gratitude,” a good overview of just that, with six action points we can take to help make gratitude our own.

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.

Ashley, MorganO –

Thank you both for your excellent postings. It takes a little work on my part, but it’s great to find material that aims to give value such as yours did.

All the best,

–Daniel
