Gratitude Watch – 2009-05-24

by Daniel Brenton on May 24, 2009

    Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
Today’s installment is a little later in the week than I was planning, but I made it, so … let’s rock!

•  Something Visual  •

Sue and Steve of The Sue and Steve Show (Twitter user @sueandsteve), give us “Gratitude – SHOW IT! (do the Gratitude Dance),” a new video taking some material recorded from the Thanksgiving season from last year, where they reflect on gratitude, and the Gratidudes, and gratitude’s relationship to the Law of Attraction.

David L. Gardner (YouTube user tokensofgratitude and Twitter user @gardnerdl) extends gratitude with a “Memorial Day Tribute from Tokens of Gratitude,” to those who have served, and especially to those who have given it all, for us to be America.

New member of my frequent gratitude contributors, the “League of Gratitude,” Jo Englesson, founder of TOFA (“Token OF Appreciation”) — and Twitter user @JoEnglesson — gives us: “Giving Year Day 002 – Mike Mitchell,” the giving of her second token, where Jo pokes some fun at herself ala Flashdance in the process of thanking her personal trainer, Mike Mitchell.

Also, Jo expresses a thanks back to yours truly for featuring her TOFA effort here with “Giving Year Day 320-323.” Now, that’s gratitude. (Thank you, Jo.)

•  (The Rest of) the “League of Gratitude”  •

As mentioned above, I have a category of folks I call The “League of Gratitude,” people that have been frequent contributors to Gratitude Watch.

Brenda Arnall at It’s a New Day gives us “This Blessing Has Taste.” Brenda celebrates her husband’s culinary skills — and participation — as well as the habit of thanks that surrounds their meal times. Brenda also shares the latest installment of her 52 Blessings gratitude journal craft project.

Charles Henry at Covenant Zone give us “The Sound of Hope,” where a message received from a friend about personal tragedy is offset by another friend sending an emotional and inspirational video that serves to remind the writer (and us, the readers) that there is good in the world, after all.

•  This is The New Stuff  •

At Health, Sara Altshul (Twitter user @sarafromnyc) gives us “Lift Spirits, Ease Stress With Gratitude and Walking Meditation,” wherein she shares how a simple counting of blessings — and the prospect of literally tiptoeing through the rose garden — brought her world back to a happy place after a personal disappointment.

At How to Save Your Marriage, Vincent Harris gives us “Happiness: Gratitude Is The Key,” explaining what happiness and trying not to think of Donald Duck have in common, and how gratitude can help us with happiness … and even with that duck problem.

At FEI, Financial Reporting Blog, Edith Orenstein gives us “Gratitude,” a timely reminder (with video) of The Gratitude Campaign, the movement to give quiet thanks to all those who put themselves in harm’s way for us. Edith also includes a personal call to service via Presidential Classroom, for those who can devote a week to this effort.

Karl at Small Biz Thoughts by Karl Palachuk offers “Client Gratitude,” some thoughtful reflections on why we’re grateful to our service providers … or not … and how to make the gratitude easier.

Witt’s Bits gives us “Hanging Out at the Armory–Packing boxes for Operation Gratitude,” another timely (and very touching) reminder of another gratitude campaign mentioned here many times before, Operation Gratitude, and their efforts to help send a little bit of home to our service men and women overseas.

Birte Edwards at Lessons of Life Coaching, gives us “Gratitude Is Attitude,” a “buck up and get with the program” gratitude message, and finishes with a video of Canadian television personality Garth Riley leading a convention room-full of business people through (here they are again …) the Gratidude’s “Gratitude Dance.”

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
