Gratitude Watch – 2009-04-03

by Daniel Brenton on April 3, 2009

    Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
    So … let’s rock!

•  Something Visual  •

From YouTube user AishVideo“5 Ways to Misery,” a tutorial on what to do to make our lives NOT work, including how to successfully rid ourselves of that stinking gratitude habit…

Not for the squeamish. (Zing!)

(Thanks to Twitter user @kendrathornbury for pointing me at this one.)

•  From The “League of Gratitude”  •

As mentioned previously, I’ve added a new category of links I call The “League of Gratitude,” folks that have been frequent contributors to Gratitude Watch.

My “League,” however, is missing in action this week. (I know Brenda Arnall is traveling, but the rest of them …?)

Hopefully they didn’t have a run-in with the Blue Meanies … or worse, take up watching Dancing with the Stars and surrender themselves to the Dark Side of the Force.

(Yeah, I said that.)

•  This is The New Stuff  •

Leonard (Twitter user @mindfulness_now) at Mindful Meditations gives us “Expressing Gratitude & Bringing Abundance Into Our Lives,” reminding us that gratitude is proactive, and that Empowerment starts between the ears.

Akemi Gaines (Twitter user @akemigaines) at Yes to Me gives us “Creating The New World, Part 1 Love,” where living in gratitude is one of the eleven actions we can take to make this happen.

Jeff at Jeffery Boyle, Loving Life (Twitter user @Jeffboyle) gives us “Gratitude,” making the case that gratitude, like gravity, is a law that it is best for us to try to work … with.

Cara Hall at Failed Feminist (no, I’m not looking down my nose at that) gives us “On gratitude,” where a sick day, Oprah, Suze Orman, and encounters in the course of her writing work conspire to bring gratitude into focus.

KC at Moxie Mama gives us “A Lesson in Gratitude …” and a quick chuckle many of us can relate to.

Athlekinetix offers “Using Gratitude as Motivation to Exercise,” making the cogent point that when Parkinson’s victim Michael J. Fox is grateful he can exercise at all, this pretty much washes out our excuses. (Yeah …)

Kevin Boon (Twitter user @kboon) at Spirit in the Village gives us “Life Balance – Gratitude & Appreciation,” and in it a very good and clear example of applying gratitude to take away good out of an unpleasant experience.

At America’s News Today: “Groups Use Social Networking Sites to Reach Out to Supporters,” noting their increased use by troop support organizations Give2TheTroops and Operation Gratitude.

•  Oldy but Goody  •

Speaking of Oprah, at Oprah.com: “Oprah Talks to Eckhart Tolle,” an interview with (and quick introduction to) one of the most remarkable spiritual teachers to emerge in recent history. (On page five of the interview he speaks to the linkage between gratitude and being present.)

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.

Hello Daniel
Great post with some great examples. I like the example of using gratitude as a motivation to exercise. I’ll subscribe to your blog.
