Gratitude Watch – 2009-03-27

by Daniel Brenton on March 27, 2009

    Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
    So … let’s rock!

•  Something Visual  •

At Metacafe, user Ken Chee gives us some gratitude eye candy: “Remember,” a reminder of what we can be grateful for, and how we can be more grateful.

Sue and Steve of The Sue and Steve Show (Twitter user @sueandsteve,) give us “Tears of Gratitude,” a short but very touching moment Steve shares, after experiencing a fundraising event, to remember to be grateful for what we have.

If you’re interested in donating to Canuck Place, you can find them here.

•  From The “League of Gratitude”  •

Brenda Arnall at It’s a New Day offers “The Blessing of Home,” and points out that it might just be all right to be grateful for our past, as well as our present. She also includes the latest installment of her “52 Blessings” gratitude journal craft project,

Valerie Saurer (Twitter user @valerie_saurer) at the Living Gratitude Blog gives us “It’s Not All About You: Gratitude as a Business Model,” a message that showing gratitude for others is a networking tool that works every time.

Our newest member of the “League of Gratitude,” Katie Krueger (Twitter user @KatieKrueger), debuted on Gratitude Watch with a mention of her Gratitude Postcards, and a note about the simpler things she’s grateful for. Today at her Snippets of Gratitude blog gives us “Recipe for Abundance from the Kitchen of Mother Nature,” an expression of gratitude for the seen and the unseen.

•  This is The New Stuff  •

Perhaps you heard the positive news item (positive news — that’s practically an oxymoron, isn’t it?) about the Thai fireman who dressed up as Spiderman to rescue an autistic boy from a possible fall?

Adonya Wong (Twitter user @AdonyaWong) at Healing… Through the Eyes of Autism put together “Everyone Needs A Hero!” a lovely post that shows some gratitude to this quick-thinking hero, and for all the heroes in our lives.

Tony Hsieh (Twitter user @zappos) at The Zappos! — CEO and COO Blog gives us some social media gratitude with “How Twitter Can Make You A Better (and Happier) Person.” For those of you not familiar with Twitter, this may not speak to you, but those of us who are will find plenty to smile about and reflect upon.

Susannah at Ink on my fingers gives us “The power of gratitude,” an interview with Carla Kay White, the author of Gratitude! — the gratitude journal application for iPhone and iPod Touch, and shows us the gratitude in the author as well.

Susan Caplan, contributing author at Suite101.com gives us “Develop a Mindset of Appreciation and Gratitude,” giving us some practical exercises to help us find the best in those in our lives.

•  Oldies but Goodies  •

At Beliefnet, you can take the “Quiz: How Grateful Are You?” — created by the gratitude psychologists themselves, Michael E. McCullough and Robert A. Emmons.

(On a scale of 6 to 42, I got 40. Not bad for a curmudgeon, huh?)

(Yes, I was being honest … I’m hurt …)

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
