Gratitude Watch – 2009-03-22

by Daniel Brenton on March 22, 2009

    Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
    So … let’s rock!

•  Something Visual  •

In “Why we need to appreciate America,” Kris at MySpace Videos shares a six minute clip from the 1970s television series Little House on the Prarie, where Russian immigrant Yuli Pyatakov (Theodore Bikel), who has lost his land but is thankful for what he still has, explains to Charles Ingalls (Michael Landon) and the town folk why America really is worth appreciating.

•  From The “League of Gratitude”  •

Brenda Arnall at It’s a New Day expresses her gratitude for irons, woods, and the white dimpled ball in: “Golf. Life. Blessings.” The post include the latest page of her 52 Blessings gratitude journal craft project.

Valerie Saurer (Twitter user @valerie_saurer) at the Living Gratitude Blog very eloquently explains gratitude for that which passes with “Appreciating Beauty: On Being Grateful for Impermanent Things.”

And at Sunny Side Up, Julie Obermiller kindly gives a little nod back to Gratitude Watch. You are very welcome, Julie.

•  This is The New Stuff  •

Sandy Mitchell at Bizzia give us some welcome gratitude news with “Survey Says Gratitude Trumps Fear,” fear, that is, of hard economic times. (Let’s have a round of applause this one!)

Steve Baker at the Pushing Water Uphill Blog “Attitude of Gratitude,” some appreciation (and some cheerleading) for the lion’s share of businesses in America — small businesses.

Eric Garner at Tickled by Life shows us how to get “The gratitude attitude” in three innovative steps, the first of which is a new one on me, a “thank bank.”

At Self Improvement Encyclopedia, Inn Hui Lim gives us “Gratitude Creates More Abundance,” by showing gratitude for what doesn’t exist … yet.

Sarah (Twitter user @sarahcasm), at This is what I know… gives us a note for her one year old son to read a few years down the pike at “A Lesson in Gratitiude.”

•  Oldies but Goodies  •

Donna Thomson (Twitter user @peacewillow) at Balanced Living Tools for Life gives us “Finding balance and harmony in life,” reminds us gratitude is a choice. (And a mighty fine one at that.)

Christine at Christine Kane’s Blog gives us “Gratitude Journals and Why They Work,” going behind to usual explanations and getting to the real stuff.

Thanks again to Edward Mills (Twitter user @edwardmills) for pointing me to this one.

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
