Gratitude Watch – 2009-03-02

by Daniel Brenton on March 2, 2009

Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.

Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.

A quick note — I haven’t been able to put up a Gratitude Watch for over a week, so I thought I should make this one twice as big … which took twice as long …

So … let’s rock!

•  Something Visual  •

“The Power of Gratitude” — Some gratitude eye candy from YouTube user GratitudeMiracles, who says “Gratitude is the practice of discovering perfection in being and living a life of fullness and purpose.”

As mentioned previously, I’ve added a new category of links I call The “League of Gratitude,” folks that have been frequent contributors to Gratitude Watch.

•  From The “League of Gratitude”  •

Edward Mills of Evolving Times (and Twitter user @edwardmills shares “What I Learned About Gratitude From A Cold And A Little Jumping Spider”

A twofer (read that as “Daniel catching up”) from Brenda Arnall of It’s a New Day: “The Blessing Of Warmth,” acknowledging that a change from cold weather can be a very welcome one, and “A Successful Blessing,” literally sharing the fruits of a journey in nurturing a tree. Both articles contribute pages of her gratitude journal craft project.

Another twofer from The Attitude of Gratitude Project by fellow Twitter user Valerie Saurer (@valerie_saurer). First, a follow-up to her last article featured on Gratitude Watch, “Being Grateful for What Is: On Overcoming Dissatisfaction,” “It’s All In Your Head: More on Being Grateful for What Is.” Second: “On Mardi Gras: Showing Gratitude for Your Dark Side,” suggesting that our lower angels (like our higher angels) have a place, too.

•  This is The New Stuff  •

At the writer’s community SearchWarp.com, Val Silver (Twitter user @ValSilver gives us “Health Goals You Can Stick With: Make Gratitude a Part of Your Daily Life for Health and Wellness.” including a suggestion on how to trade circumstances that might seem to demand road rage with gratitude.

Charles Henry at Covenant Zone gives us “Gratitude Builds A Home For A Hero,” celebrating an expression of thanks in the form of a new home for a paralyzed marine. Charles makes reference to and quotes the Courier Post Online article “Volunteers adapt home for paralyzed Marine.”

Shakti at Street Prophets (A Daily Kos Community) gives us “Gratitude Tag Team, 3 Days, 3 Things,” an opportunity to post what you’re grateful for in an established blog.

Deanna Collins (Twitter user @gratitudecircle) at Subtle Energy gives us some pointers with “How to Find Abundant Gratitude.”

Sandy Babb at Quill Cottage gives us “Serendipity Sunday: Prayers of Gratitude…..” — sharing several thoughtful prayers of gratitude.

Rev. Rob Wheeler at Notes from Rob gives us “What can you actually DO….” — that is, to get better results in your life.

Megan Bord at It’s All About Joy! offers “Five Ways To Get Happier,” which includes reasons why, and five tips for the short term (one of those tips rhyming with the word “latitude”).

Dale Allen at Blogodale gives us “Miracles at Work,” a remarkable exploration of customer service, stressing the word “service,” in which he invokes the power of gratitude to aid those of us in service-related industries.

Health/Life Balance offers “That Which Sustains You,” an examination of gratitude, and one of the symptoms of a gratitude lack … clutter.

Alex Ryan at Emotional Intelligence gives us “Attachment,” a lengthy but thoughtful reflection on the power gratitude offers us to free ourselves from the chains of attachment.

Katie at Katie Krueger’s Snippets of Gratitude (and Twitter user @KatieKrueger) gives us a visual with something she’s grateful for: “As long as its not the awkward kind, where I’m fumbling around for the door handle.”

Don Oddy (YouTube user DonInLondon) gives us ten minutes of very straight talk about gratitude and recovery with “Attitude Of Gratitude? – Sanity.” (Background music: “Music for Airports” by Brian Eno.)

•  Oldies but Goodies  •

At Ezine @rticles, Gwen Stewart gives us some unique insights with “Gratitude: 10 Practical Steps.”

Debbie of Live with Gratitude gives us new gratitude quotes several times a week, such as here, and here.

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.

Thank you for your kind inclusion of “It’s All About Joy!” in such a brilliant site! You brought sunshine to my snowy morning.

Thanks for the link, Daniel!

I wish I had been aware of your blog earlier, I share your interest in finding stories that help me affirm the tremendous motivating power and potential for renewal that can come from sincere expressions of gratitude.

I appreciate finding another blog that likes to post about good news, not just whining about bad news all the time.

One of the most inspiring examples of gratitude I’ve read this year was the story about the violinist who recovered the use of his arms, have you seen it? (I didn’t notice it in your gratitude watch archive…)

Daniel,

Thank you so much for the honor and for the link on the promotion of gratitude. I can’t wait to explore all the links.
