Gratitude Watch – 2009-02-19

by Daniel Brenton on February 19, 2009

Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.

Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.

So … let’s rock!

•  Some Visual Gratitude for Social Media  •

YouTube user GratitudeLiving (Dainaz Sohrab, Twitter user @dainazsillava), gives us “Gratitude Social Media,” a short video introducing herself and expressing gratitude to the new opportunity that today’s social media represents.

I agree with the sentiments here. I should note that Dainaz is offering a service, and that I do not endorse or reject what she is offering. There may be some hyperbole here on her part, but from my experience what she is saying is essentially true. In the new social media, it is entirely possible to find oneself communicating with individuals of public stature or financial accomplishment, and social media has in fact become a viable arena for the marketing of one’s skills, be it someone blogging like me, offering a product, or selling a service.

This sentiment is an excellent one, and I have seen it expressed in several ways while I’ve been active on Twitter. She has expressed it here well.

•  The “League of Gratitude”  •

Dragos Roua at eDragonu – the choice of a personal path gives us “The Gratitude Experiment – Conclusions,” which wraps up his personal experiment and gives us a forthright summation.

Brenda Arnall at It’s a New Day gives us “A Heartfelt Blessing,” a nod to Valentine’s day, and also another page in her gratitude journal craft project, but also a reflection on the need to consider the special people in our lives — including ourselves.

A new addition to the “League,” Valerie Saurer of The Attitude of Gratitude Project, give us “Being Grateful for What Is: On Overcoming Dissatisfaction.” In this, Valerie points out how desiring what isn’t can get in the way of appreciating what it.

Our second addition to the “League” this Edition, is Edward Mills, of Evolving Times – Exploring the Leading Edge of Thought. Ed has so much established material to offer, that we’re going to start off with an oldy but goody of his, “7 Ways To Get A Positive Start On The Day.” (You probably have a pretty good idea what one of these ways are, don’t you?)

•  This is The New Stuff  •

Stephen Martile at Love, Leisure and Self Improvement Search gives us “5 Ways to Gear In Gratitude,” of getting into the attitude of gratitude to help cope with these new leaner times.

Trent Hamm at The Simple Dollar offers “Using a Gratitude Journal as a Personal Motivator to Save Money and Enjoy Life,” where he points us at where to find more bang for the value buck.

Dr. Stephen F. Grinstead at Addiction-Free Pain Management offers “Gratitude Trumps Suffering Every Time,” where he shares the value of being in the solution rather than in the problem.

At CBSwire · Beauty and the Beast (I have no idea why this kind of article wound up here, or even what this site is for, but it’s a good article) gives us Deanna Collins’ article “Reduce Stress through Gratitude.”

At Unreasonable Faith, guest writer Wade Preston asks us a very thoughtful question that he sets up very well: “What Is the Object Of Your Gratitude?”

Renee Canali at Virtual Gratitude Party give us “Birth, Death and Taxes,” reminding us it is important to carefully choose what to respond to.

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
