Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude. For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
So … let’s rock!
• Something Visual •
YouTube user britribe gives us Mitch Majeski “Gratitude,” some solid and entertaining commentary on gaining some perspective for what we have.
• The “League of Gratitude” •
Jonathan at The Year of Gratitude gives us, “Gratitude for its own sake,” a recognition of the worth of stepping beyond comparisons when it comes to what we’re grateful for.
• This is The New Stuff •
Hilary at One Mom’s Year of Gratitude offers “Noah Quin Rhodes • 1:53am, Feb 12, 2007,” expressing a touching message of gratitude for the son who just turned two.
•
Mindfulnesskc gives us “The Science of Smiling” a Q & A with Dacher Keltner, UC-Berkeley Social Interaction Laboratory, author of Born to Be Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life. Keltner points out the relationship between happiness and gratitude.
•
Ariel at Happy Blog gives us “Gratitude and Appreciation,” a good overall reminder to acknowledge the good people in your life.
•
Something else visual: from YouTube user bostonfaithjustice, “Gratitude Economy- Paul Van Ness- 70 Paintings for 70 Children,” wherein film maker, artist, and movie theater owner Paul Van Ness talks about his selling paintings made of children in an orphanage in the Philippines — for a commitment from the buyer for a yearly donation to the orphanage … of $70.00 (USD).
•
Annie Evet at Dear Peeps gives us “My Special Kids.” Though a bit awkward in the telling, the message clearly comes through, of gratitude toward a child reminding the writer of the power of giving in the aftermath of the Victorian Bushfires.
•
Amorah Light at Spryte – A Magazine for the Enlightened Child gives us “The Gratitude Game,” a game for children — and maybe people who used to be children — to create “a tidal wave of gratitude.”
•
Thinking in Peaces offers a good slap of cold water with “Perspective Askew?” — some reflections on the grilling of bank CEOs under the spotlight of the House Financial Services Committee, and how, in the bigger picture, most of us reading it may not be all that different.
•
Last of the new items — not an easy post, but definitely a special one: Gerald Britt at Everyday Citizen gives us “A Growing Appreciation for Lincoln.” In this, Britt candidly reveals and rethinks his feelings about the 16th American President, and by doing so reaches across the racial aisle.
God bless you, sir.
• Oldies but Goodies •
Not being a Facebook user, I only recently became aware of the Hurricane of Gratitude group created by Facebook (and Twitter) user Alex Karis. He says “I am beginning this GROUP to create a place that you may come to share your blessings, acknowledgements, appreciations, recognitions and gratitude that runs deep throughout your life.”
He also has put together a video just a bit over four minutes long that explains all: “It’s a New Day…Come Share your World with Us!!” (a video that I can’t embed here, thank you Facebook …)
(I’m sorry … was that ungrateful of me …?)
•
Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
