Gratitude Watch – 2008-12-21

by Daniel Brenton on December 21, 2008

Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.

Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude.

For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.

So, let’s rock!

•  This is The New Stuff  •

YouTube user beautywithin85 gives us “Counting Blessings…” an upbeat video she put together featuring the song “Blessed,” by Martina McBride.

Amy Doughten at ReadyToBeCoached! (Amy, you really made me work to find your name, darn you) gives us “Gratitude,” an excellent example in finding what we can be grateful for, even in situations that look pretty grim.

Roz Fruchtman at the Say It With eCards Blog gives us “Hanukkah eCards – Send Gratitude and Appreciation eCards.”

I thought about this for a moment, because this to some degree a self-promotion thing on the part of Roz, but she’s self-promoting helping us express gratitude, so I’m game.

She writes: “You may ask… ‘Who ever heard of Gratitude and Appreciation Hanukkah eCards.’ Who ever heard of many of the things that are going on these days!”

I certainly never heard of such a thing. (Of course, I was raised Congregational Christian in a small midwestern town that may not have had any Jews at all …)

So, hey, here’s your chance to catch up. Hanukkah is tomorrow (12/22) at sunset, wherever you are.

Live Journal user joriejc2 gives us “Operation Gratitude,” which is actually a request from organization “Operation Bag of Home,” a similarly-intended effort as Operation Gratitude to reach out to our troops serving in the Middle East. More about it can be found here.

Stacie Stukin at the Yoga Journal Blog Samadhi & the City gives us “Los Angeles: Gratitude as Attitude.” a short piece about Jodi and Wendy Fuchs, sisters, yogis, and artists that started the Gratitude Art Project (GAP).

(Watch for the pop-ups on this sight.)

Marilyn Pokorney at Mens’s Issues Guide gives us “Guided Meditation for Empowered Consciousness,” in which she cites gratitude as a means to enhance meditation.

Geuka Amusa at Humancipate! gives us “You Could Be Healthier If You Just…” ten thoughtful points to do just that, and guess what point number three is?

Likewise, Fausto at Consciousness is Freedom offers “How to hold the perfect Manifesting Intention,” and offers two points in depth on doing just this. Guess what point number one is?

(Watch out for the javascript snow on his site. Your computer might need a blanket.)

(Yeah, it was a silly comment.)

Carolyn at CarolynBaker.net: Speaking Truth to Power presents “If I am Not a Consumer, Who am I?” — an examination of how the identity of citizens of western nations may be threatened by the financial crisis because of their identification with material possessions, and that indigenous tribal cultures may have something to teach us — including gratitude — for the refocusing our cultural definition of self-worth.

•  Oldies but Goodies  •

DailyMotion user yolyordam posts “Why Me,” a thoughtful examination of when bad things happen, and how they can make our lives better. (Nine minutes and three seconds, but a worthwhile nine minutes and three seconds.)

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
