Gratitude Watch – 2008-12-18

by Daniel Brenton on December 18, 2008

Start:Welcome to Gratitude Watch.

Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude.

For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.

So, let’s rock!

•  This is The New Stuff  •

From Videojug, Dr. Lynn Ianni quickly explains “What part does gratitude play in happiness?”

Sarah at The Wellingtons reminds us again of “The Gratitude Campaign,” the effort to express thanks, in a quiet way, for those of us who have served our country in the military.

Bill at Bill Walker’s Blog gives us “Gratitude and the Act of Receiving,” a reflection on being the recipient of a surprise expression of gratitude, and the need to be a good receiver as well as a good giver.

Tina at Think Simple Now gives us “Overcome Fear in the Economic Crisis,” citing gratitude as one of the ingredients for success in the face of the current adversity.

I’d like to thank the unnamed blogger at the not quite completely implemented Group Marin’s Blog (c’mon guys, you can do it … you’ve gotten this far), for this great quote from Sales trainer/ Motivational speaker Steve Dickason:

If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for what he’s going to get.

Damned straight, Mr. D.

I ran across “Gratitude Boxes” at a few blogs, but Debba Haupert at Girlfriendology actually explains them in “Handmade Girlfriend Gifts.”

Abdur at Abdur Rahman’s Corner gives us some Sufi-flavored Islamic wisdom on gratitude with “Trust and Thankfulness.”

“Dating Tip of the Week: Practice Gratitude.” Gratitude from a surprising direction — according to Lisa Steadman, The Relationship Journalist, (took me a while to find your blog, Lisa) instead of moping about being single this holiday season, give thanks for the love that’s actually in your life already.

From Paul Montelongo’s …A Smart Blend of Reality & Inspiration, Paul turns the question of gratitude back at us in “Gratitude … Rocks,” and asks us what we’re grateful for professionally, philosophically, and personally.

Joana Johnson at The Gratitude Project gives us “Some Time,” some very thoughtful, personal reflection on being grateful for times that almost all of us can relate to.

International Trainer and Sales Strategist Gary Eby gives us “Do You Have and Attitude of Gratitude?” in which he enumerates how blessed we are in the greater picture. (You’ve probably heard these kinds of comparisons before, but I always find they “recalibrate” my perspective.)

By the way … if you were looking for “Oldies but Goodies,” down here at the bottom of the page, I’m afraid this is all new stuff.

(Sorry.)

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
