Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude.
For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
Just a little note –
I’m hoping this is not the case, but it appears that with the end of November and the passing of the American holiday of Thanksgiving, the number of what I consider quality posts about gratitude is declining. Maybe this is just a coincidence. Time will tell.
I am grateful when I run across something of substance.
(If that sounded snarky, well … unfortunately there’s a lot out there that doesn’t have much value.)
On a more upbeat note, I noticed Gratitude Watch is now actually appearing in Google’s Blog search (searching under the term “gratitude,” of course) which took some time to happen. Something of a victory of persistence.
So, Let’s rock!
• This is The New Stuff •
The Times nwi.com posts “An attitude of gratitude” — life coach and clinical psychologist Dr. Myrna Sarowitz pointed observes that gratitude should not be reserved for one American holiday a year.
•
Greg Hudson of What God? – Identity and Life with the One Who Calls Us offers “Gratitude.” Some excellent commentary in the argument of nature versus nurture (specifically, genetics against upbringing) when it comes to our predisposition toward being grateful.
•
Didn’t catch this a few days, but it’s worth catching: Ross at Will it Change You? – Your Portal for Personal Growth gives us “So you’ve heard it all before? Part 1: Gratitude.” Though we may have run across these ideas before, Ross notes there are some things worth being reminded about.
•
Laura and Gerber at Everyday Improvement gives us: “How to Think More Positively and Reduce Stress.” They note the use of a daily gratitude list as one of five components to manage stress more effectively in our lives.
•
The unnamed blogger at Sayings | Quotes gives us “Gratitude Quotes and Sayings,” a selection of quotes the subject at hand, many of which I hadn’t heard before. (I like this one: “Gratitude – the meanest and most sniveling attribute in the world.” I guess Dorothy Parker didn’t quite get it, did she?)
•
Jessica Monte at Green Mamma shares a charming story about a “green” family seeking out and finding an old-fashioned Christmas tree: “Gratitude: Going to a Christmas Tree Farm.”
•
Angie at Motivational Musings gives us some straight talk with: “Making the Most Out of Every Situation… Even When it Sucks.”
• Oldies but Goodies •
I can’t find a posting date on this, so I don’t know if this is really an oldy or not But it is a goodie. From Ezine Articles: “5 Reasons to Practice Gratitude” by Amber Starfire.
•
Thanks to Palma Tayona’s Visual Vicera for pointing me at this: “Laura Trice: The power of saying thank you,” A TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) talk, from September, 2008.
Laura makes an interesting point I had not heard before — it’s okay to ask for thanks. (Who’d a thunk it?)
•
Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
