Welcome to Gratitude Watch.
Gratitude Watch is an eye on the internet for news, articles, videos, and other items, all focusing on the subject of gratitude.
For more on my intent on these postings, see About Gratitude Watch.
And now, let’s rock!
• This is The New Stuff •
Meg at Meg: a small but meaningful life offers “Gratitude Shmatitude?” a vote of confidence for using gratitude lists, and a photographic version of her own.
•
Karen Bierdeman, M. Ed., at The Guilt Free Mom, notes that keeping a gratitude list is one of the “3 Easy Ways To Feel Like A Better Mother.”
•
The unnamed poster at Inner Journey (oh, c’mon — you could think up a “handle” — I know you can do it), offers us a good reminder of the place of gratitude for all “law of attraction” fans out there: “Gratitude – The Way Of Life.” Using gratitude to focus us on even the little things we don’t have is far better than focusing on the things we don’t.
•
WriterMomMusings’ Cornelia Becker Seigneur shares her “Musing on Gratitude and True Faith” … how we can build thankfulness into our kids’ lives.
•
Cheryl at Inspirations Studio gives us an angle on gratitude that had never occurred to this writer — taking the time to be gratitude for yourself — with “Being Grateful For Me – A Mixed Media Self-Portrait.”
•
“Finance” over at Business Plan with “Human Resources Management Suggestion – Making Appreciations Powerful For Retaining Employees.” asks a serious question, and gives some thoughtful answers: When is gracious appreciation or gratitude a manipulation?
•
Bear with me here — I’m trying to go global, in at least a semi-literate way … the french blog Women with the Soles of Wind (La femme aux semelles de vent) (I suspect that’s really Souls, not Soles, but I don’t speak the language) offers “The Gratitude – fundamental vibration of the universe,” some excellent, poetic reflections on the power of gratitude. (Please note: this page is being translated courtesy of Google’s translator tool, and I honestly can’t vouch for the accuracy of the translation. Nor could I identify the name or handle of the blogger, unfortunately.)
•
Patrick Meninga at Spiritual River: Overcoming Addiction posts “Start Here: The Creative Theory of Recovery Explained,” a lengthy, thoughtful article which cites the value of gratitude as one of the keys of the recovery process.
• Oldies but Goodies •
Halfnotes at Life Between the Notes in a very good article cites gratitude as one of “The 7 Ingredients of Caring.” (You know you have a good article when you find it lifted verbatim and posted without attribution on another site. See? I do watch for this.)
•
One of the first webpages I ran across (two years ago) documenting the clinical evidence of the power of gratitude: “Highlights from the Research Project on Gratitude and Thankfulness: Dimensions and Perspectives of Gratitude” by The Big Names themselves — Robert A. Emmons, University of California, Davis and Michael E. McCullough, University of Miami.

Stay tuned for the next Gratitude Watch.
